Planning a wedding can be one of the most stressful things you can do. Real bride Vanessa is juggling not only that, but moving house, and taking on a new job. Today she is sharing her tips for how to put the fun back into planning!
They say that getting married, moving house and a change in job role can contribute to being in the top 10 most stressful life events. Who knows how the internet comes to these conclusions, but I may have been a little adventurous and have done all three!!!
Perhaps this is why I have been so quiet on the blog front as over the last couple of months my wedding planning has taken a bit of a back seat. Now with just under a year to go I feel ready to resume all things wedmin, but it can sometimes be hard knowing where to start. There is often so much to think about: guest list, invitations, colour schemes, decorations, etc, so to help, I came up with 3 things to get me back on track.
1. Take the wedding planning elsewhere
My fiancé and I decided to set a date where we would head down our favourite coffee shop with laptops in tow to explore some wedding ideas together. This made it more fun and relaxed for us rather than it becoming routine planning at home.
He suggested we complete an exercise where we had to choose 8 qualities each from a list that we felt represented us, and over time we had to reduce these until we had 3 each left. This gave us an idea of what was most important to us and how we would want this reflected in our wedding.
2. Spend time with your bridal party
My bridal party is chosen based on the close friendships I have formed over the years. They are the people who I enjoy spending time with so I decided that it was important to have some quality time with them all together. This didn’t necessary involve any planning, but it was nice to take the time out, have some fun and remind myself of those there along the way to help.
3. Focus on your favourite part of wedding planning
Whether you are having a DIY wedding or your venue is helping to organise your big day, there is always a special something that gets you excited about the day, besides marrying your loved one! Mine is flowers. So I thought this would be a good place to start, and arranged to meet with my florist to explore ideas and learn about seasonal flowers.
I now feel refreshed and super excited to continue planning, and although I have 10 months to go, it is already flying by! Hopefully these ideas might be of use to some of you too!
